My name is Lisa Bergman I'm 49 and have been a nurse for the past 20+
yrs. I am 5"2", and have always had to pay attention to my weight as for
the smallest of 5 pounds would count as BIG differences, never mind 10
pounds as far as the way clothing fits and the way I would feel
mentally. Since I was a kid my cholesterol level has always been way over 200. As
I've gotten older I have found myself feeling less energetic and not
eating quite so well. I seemed to reach a point where my weight was
increasing and my activity & confidence level was decreasing. I was living alone as I have done most of my life with and at that time with a sick & dying dog
(my best friend), my mom (only family I had, as I'm an only child) had passed away back in 2004, I felt I had No support and was really just all alone in this world struggling in every which way. I was actually starting to feel very alone & depressed not wanting to leave the
house let alone put anything other then my sweats on. That's when I found P90X.
A few weeks after I had started I began to notice the
difference. My friends and strangers too had even began to give me
compliments on my transformation. I started feeling better,my confidence level got stronger and my clothes felt better. I had previously over the years although never consistent... mixed up my workout routines with Power
90, Hip Hop Abs, Brazil Butt Lift, Turbo Jam, and Now I am currently doing P90X again & getting ready to attempt my first 5K mud run. (Oh, and by the way... I am not a runner AT ALL my cardio & endurance is not great although a work in progress). I must say, "I Love So Many Of The Beachbody
Workouts and Products!" This is the reason why I decided back in
August of 2010 to be a Beachbody Coach.
_
At that time, I felt like it was time to give P90X a try. I literally read
through all of the guides and try to absorb as much information as I could. If I
was going to invest sweat and grueling work into this, I wanted to do it right.
This was a major turning point for me because I realized that nutrition
is 80% of your results. But the problem was...I didn't know how to eat or what to eat. I literally wanted someone to take me to
the grocery store and show me how to shop
for real food. It's scary to think back about how much I didn't know at that time! It was also shocking at how much processed food I
was eating because of convenience. I
began to do a lot of research and learn as much as possible. In my research I
had found Beachbody's Michi's Ladder. This
was an amazing discovery and it has helped me a lot because it is a quick glance
nurtition guide which helps me identify what are the good foods for me to eat
and which ones to stay away from. I continue to refer back to it as well as the
P90X Nutrition Guide for great recipe
ideas. They have become my "food bibles."
How I actually got started with all this... I had asked on a
message board for some help re: my knee issue (I had ACL surgery in 2005 and
have a pin in my right knee & was concerned about doing the Plyometrics, in
P90X)and that is how I met my coach. She had mentioned Shakeology, and I was
interested in seeing what it was all about. She gave me the rundown on what
Shakeology is and why I should check it out. At first I said, "Are you kidding me?" that's so expensive, I can't afford that... But, then after continuing to see many posts on facebook about it, I decided to take a risk, put some money aside and give it a try. Everything about Shakeology made sense and I placed
my order. In the process, I learned more about the Beachbody Coaching
opportunity and how it was possible to get a 25% off
ALL Beachbody products! Well 25% off Shakeology = $30 Hell yes!
Sign me up!!! LOL Why didn't anyone tell me about this when I
bought P90X or any of the other programs?! LOL, A HUGE factor in my success and
getting my nutrition right was Shakeology. I drink it everyday for breakfast.
Once I started drinking it I was hooked ~ I begun to look
and feel better.My cholesterol
dropped 35 points within the 1st 6 months, and I LOVE the taste. I LOVE it and
believe in it so much that I actually starting working the Beachbody Coaching business. I actually save money now that I have an easy and delicious meal on the go. Plus its chocolatey deliciousness!
***And just for the record... I am NO longer working as at my job that I actually enjoyed as a nurse, Beachbody Coaching has become My full time job!
The workouts were hard. I had no idea what I was getting myself into. At that time I was working as a nurse with many loooong hour days, I even had a torn tendon in my finger with a splint for 11 weeks and was still determined to modify and push thru. At first I started doing between 5-7 minutes of the video then moving to 10-12 minutes. After that every 15 minutes I would pause the videos to catch my breath. And Ab Ripper X? Are they kidding?! That video is 16 minutes long and I think I paused it 6 or 7 times to try to keep up. But as each day went by, I pushed past the soreness and laziness and started to pause the DVD less and less. I remember my biggest day of accomplishment was when I could make it through Plyometrics without pausing a single time!!!
Because life gets in the way, I missed workouts here and there. But I would switch my rest day or try to make them up. Many workouts I would end laying on the floor... panting and sweating... saying I would never make it through another. LOL But the sense of accomplishment kept me coming back for more. As hard as the workout is, you ALWAYS feel amazing after. You can regret NOT working out, but you NEVER regret working out! Once you hear Tony say these magical words "You made it! Time to stretch" you feel like a million bucks! I am still working to tone and have sexy, lean abs! I am currently adding variety to my workouts. I started doing P90X, Brazil Butt Lift, and a little bit of Turbo Jam!
I will love to have you join me on this fitness journey. You will have fun, lose weight, and feel better!
Wish me luck everyone!!! I will keep you posted on my results!!!
